“I want to continue raising awareness about traditional Indonesian textile techniques and the massive role the country plays in the fashion industry. I am half Indonesian so this is something that means a lot to me!”
Hey Maddie! I absolutley loved working with you and the amazing team on our shoot. Are collaborations something that are important to you?
Hi Neve! It was great to work with you too! Yes - i really enjoy collaborating because you always arrive at a different outcome than if you were working alone.
How do you find / source your inspiration as a designer?
A lot of my inspiration comes from colour and looking at textile design processes. I really enjoy developing the fabric in different ways, for example dying them or printing onto them.
Your designs have been worn by the likes of Ashley Roberts and been featured in publications such as Noctis and The Face. Is there any sort of particular individual you design for when creating your pieces?
Not really! I make things that i want to wear and that make me feel confident and fabulous when wearing them.

What are some of the most important narratives and messages you wish to communicate through Senja?
I think that slow fashion, along with buying second hand is the way forward for the fashion industry. I’ve come across so many amazing, small slow fashion brands that make beautiful things and i want this to be the core value of Senja.
I make everything to order so there is no excess stock and each piece is handmade by me which can take from half a day to a whole day.
Senja was born during lockdown and began with me just making things for myslef and documenting the process and final product on Instagram. I never set out to start the brand but as interest grew it felt like the right thing to do.
What does the future hold in store for Senja?
I’m really enjoying the pace that Senja is going at the moment. I am learning new things everyday and have met so many lovely people along the way. Sometimes it can feel very overwhelming but ultimately i just feel so appreciative of the support and interest the brand has gotten.
